Project Manager – Landfill Gas

Job Summary 

This position will be involved in strategic planning, marketing proposals, interviews, and will also be directly involved with public and private clients in marketing, project production, and related issues in the Tampa Landfill Gas market.  The individual will see that the work is planned, organized, controlled, and evaluated through a proactive project management system, and continuously implement, monitor, and support company policy.  They will also select, train, develop, and manage technical personnel. Responsibilities include project management, business development, and office management.  Project management will be for landfill gas projects, which may require design, engineering, permitting, construction and/or operations support. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities                     

Responsibilities for this position will include oversight for landfill gas group activities including staff recruitment and development, business development, growth and profitability, quality control, and fostering good overall team morale.   

  • Write technical reports, and conduct site visits to assist our clients.
  • Business development will include identifying opportunities, proposal writing, client visits, and attendance at conferences.
  • Some travel will be required.  Travel could include conducting site visits to clients and conferences.
  • Job duties will specifically include using Microsoft Word and Excel, and other relevant software.
  • A large portion of this job includes report and proposal writing and preparation. The candidate must be proficient in technical writing and editing.

 
Qualifications                                                                               

  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering required.
  • Minimum of 7 years relevant solid waste experience required. Landfill gas experience preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills and must be proficient with MS-Office software applications. 
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Florida preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with a driving record in good standing.

Environmental Specialist:
  Sarasota County is one of the premier communities in Florida is seeking an Environmental Specialist to coordinate, implement and perform the daily functions for the landfill gas collection & destruction systems, environmental monitoring programs and NPDES permits at three solid waste facilities.

 

Minimum Qualifications:  A Bachelor’s Degree from and accredited college or university in one of the biological or physical sciences, Environmental Engineering or related field and two (2) years related experience.  A Master’s Degree may substitute for one year of professional related experience. Progressively related professional experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required college degree. A valid Driver’s License is required.  Must possess:

  • Working knowledge and experience with landfill gas collection & destruction systems; water field sampling protocols.
  • Knowledge of Title V, NSPS, GHG, Groundwater, Surface Water and NPDES regulations.
  • Knowledge of landfill gas and environmental sampling/monitoring equipment.
