SWANA Representative Appointed to ETTAC
Silver Spring, MD – The Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) is pleased to announce that Kristyn Oldendorf, Senior Director of Public Policy & Communications, has been appointed to the US Department of Commerce’s Environmental Technologies Trade Advisory Committee (ETTAC), representing the waste and resource management segments of the US environmental technology industry.
The ETTAC advises the Secretary of Commerce on programs to foster US exports of environmental technologies, goods, and services, including technologies related to waste and recycling. Its recommendations include ways to support innovation, ensure fair trade, and strengthen supply chain resilience.
“I look forward to representing SWANA on this advisory committee and advising the Department of Commerce on ways to support the growth of waste and resource management,” shared Oldendorf. “Previous discussions of the ETTAC have included topics that are top of mind for our industry, including PFAS, air monitoring, supply chain resiliency, the global plastic treaty negotiations, and more. US waste and resource management professionals have expertise and technologies to offer, and I will have the opportunity to represent our industry’s perspectives.”
ETTAC members represent many sectors related to environmental technologies, including solid waste management and recycling, water and wastewater treatment, air pollution monitoring and control, and others. The appointed members of the ETTAC serve for two years and meet regularly to discuss key topics and develop recommendations.
“We are proud to have Kristyn join the ETTAC,” stated SWANA Executive Director & CEO Amy Lestition Burke, MA, FASAE, CAE. “SWANA has many members that conduct business internationally and it is important that we have the opportunity to advise the Secretary of Commerce on the opportunities and needs of our industry.”
