Important Announcement from SWANA Board of Directors

SWANA is excited to implement its 2023–2027 strategic plan and to achieve the four goals in the plan.

These goals include getting off the top 10 most dangerous jobs; becoming climate champions; reframing the perception of industry as employers of choice including engaging young professionals and improving industry conditions through diversity, equity,
and inclusion; and strengthening SWANA’s communication with chapters and members and its infrastructure and financial viability.

Effective March 13, 2023, David Biderman has left SWANA. We thank David for his service and valuable contributions to SWANA and the industry. SWANA and David agree that it is time for new leadership to guide us into the future and achieve the goals in
our strategic plan. We wish David all the best in the future.

SWANA will hire an interim ED/CEO this month while the search is launched for a permanent ED/CEO. We hope to have our new ED/CEO selected prior to WASTECON in September, but we are not rushing the process.

As SWANA’s Board of Directors, we realize we wouldn’t be here if it weren’t
for our dedicated leaders, members, and other stakeholders. We appreciate your support at this challenging time. If you have additional questions, please contact the officers at [email protected].
