SWANA to Present Four Training Courses at WasteExpo® Conference
Silver Spring, MD – The Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) is excited to announce that it will be holding four of its esteemed courses at WasteExpo® in a first-time partnership between SWANA and Informa, the owner and operator of WasteExpo.
“Offering SWANA courses at WasteExpo will provide a new opportunity for waste and resource management professionals to attend SWANA courses in-person with other professionals from around North America”, stated SWANA CEO Amy Lestition Burke, MA, FASAE, CAE. “We are pleased to offer this convenient option for individuals to take advantage of SWANA training and certification. SWANA is excited to be part of this event with NWRA and we appreciate their support in moving this initiative forward.”
WasteExpo will be held in Las Vegas, May 5-8. The courses will be held May 4-6, in the days leading into WasteExpo. Course registration will include admission to the WasteExpo opening reception on May 5 and admission to the exhibit hall. The courses will include visits to the exhibit hall to view the technologies and service providers associated with each course.
SWANA is offering the following courses:
- Manager of Landfill Operations
- The course provides a comprehensive look at the field of landfill operations management—everything from the basics, to site and environmental management and monitoring, to landfill closure.
- Essential Leachate PFAS Treatment and Management Training
- This course provides an understanding of PFAS terminology, technology, and regulations related to leachate management and treatment solutions.
- Managing Municipal Solid Waste Collection Systems
- This deep-dive course discusses emerging technology and best practices for the collection of residential solid waste and recyclables from single- and multi-family residences.
- Zero Waste Principles and Practices
- This course covers the essential principles, strategies, and planning tools for zero waste goals, from program development and budgeting to contracting and public engagement.
Attendees will receive professional development hours (PDHs) and be equipped to take the SWANA certification exam. Participants do not need to attend the full WasteExpo event in order to attend the course. Registration for the courses is now open, and SWANA members receive a discount on registration.
