SWANA Supports America Recycles Day 2022

Remains Committed to Recycling as Part of Resource Management

The Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) is proud to celebrate America Recycles Day on November 15. This annual event is an opportunity to promote the value of recycling and to discuss ways to strengthen it into the future.

“SWANA continues to place a strong emphasis on recycling and strengthening recycling programs and systems throughout the United States and Canada,” stated David Biderman, SWANA’s Executive Director and CEO. “We will continue to work with EPA to implement its National Recycling Strategy and encourage investment in new technologies and equipment that process recyclables more efficiently,” Biderman added.

SWANA has played a very active role advocating for stronger federal support for recycling programs, including the 2021 Bilateral Infrastructure Law (BIL) and the Recycling Infrastructure and Accessibility Act. Federal recycling grant programs associated with the BIL are expected to be announced by EPA soon.

SWANA recently re-affirmed its commitment to advancing from solid waste management to resource management in the organization’s 2023–2027 Strategic Plan. A strong and sustainable recycling system is a key component of those efforts.
